Admissions

The Nova Scotia PhD Program in Educational Studies welcomes applications for admission from qualified candidates interested in pursuing doctoral studies in an interesting, rigorous, and collaborative learning context.

Students applying to the program should possess a completed Masters degree that has prepared them for advanced scholarship at the doctoral level in at least one of the six fields of study.

Admission to the program is competitive. Students interested in applying should attend to all admission requirements and assemble all materials required for admission well in advance of the yearly application deadline.

The Program invites applications from beyond the Canadian Maritime Provinces, but gives preference to qualified Maritime applicants. This admission strategy, approved by the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission, aims to support the production of educational research and knowledge relevant to the needs of the Maritime Provinces.

The deadline for applying to the program is November 15 each year. The deadline to apply for the program beginning in the summer of 2025, is November 15, 2024.
