Scholarships and Funding

The Nova Scotia PhD Program in Educational Studies does not grant entrance scholarships or funding for students entering the program. Once in the program, students can acquire student research assistantships through their home institution. Depending on the home institution, students may also qualify for additional yearly grants.

Home institutions often provide opportunities for doctoral students to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Students in their first year are permitted to hold sessional teaching contracts during their year of residency.

Students are strongly encouraged to apply for external scholarships and funding to support their studies. Students in the Doctoral Program have been awarded Social Sciences and Humanities Research Counsel doctoral scholarships (2 students received SSHRC scholarships in 2013).
